LOVELY IN LACE WRAP

The Lovely in Lace Wrap was originally designed as the Audrey Hepburn Advent MKAL Shawl for Tippy Tree Yarns, released in December 2020.

Main Features

• addicting knit using three fun-to-knit and easy-to-memorize lace motifs that keep the knit engaging

• the short width, changing colors, and changing textures keep you from getting bored

• fun project to practice knitting lace worked flat

• uses (4) 50-gram skeins of fingering weight yarn + 4 colors, but can worked in 1 or 2 colors

• can easily be adjusted in length by working more or less repeats

ABOUT THE PATTERN
The Lovely in Lace Wrap is a long, rectangular shape comprised of four colors and three simple lace stitch motifs that are repeated throughout the wrap. It is easy to modify the length of each section, as well as the order of the colors, and even the number of colors that you use.

This wrap is the classic, elegant style that Audrey Hepburn would’ve loved to wrap around her shoulders for a night out. The knit is simple in technique but engaging and fun to knit – and you won’t get bored!

The pattern includes one PDF file with both the written and the charted instructions, but the instructions are kept separate for easy printing.

YARN
800 yds / 730 m; 200 g Fingering Weight Yarn; 4 colors, 50 g each

Designed using Tippy Tree Yarns Super Sock (75% Superwash Merino, 25% Nylon; 230 yds / 210 m, 50 g), shown in Audrey Grace, Audrey Beauty, Audrey Style, and Audrey Glam.

GAUGE
26 stitches, 40 rows = 4” / 10 cm feather and fan
26 stitches, 19 rows = 4” / 10 cm fern lace
25 stitches, 26 rows = 4” / 10 cm herringbone lace

TOOLS
3.5 mm (US size 4) needles, or size needed to obtain gauge, minimum 10” / 25 cm long, straight or circular

TECHNIQUES
Lovely in Lace Wrap includes simple increases and decreases for working lace. This includes K2tog, KFB, YO, SSK, and SKP. This is a great pattern for an adventurous beginner that is wanting to try lace knitting for the first time. The rows are relatively short, and the pattern includes a lot of repeats (so there’s more time for practicing and not as many new techniques to learn.

If you’ve never worked lace before but are familiar with increasing or decreasing stitches (i.e. K2tog, KFB, and YO), you already know how to work lace, so don’t let that term scare you. Plus, I like to say that all of knitting, regardless of the stitches, is the same: you just follow one instruction at a time, and (almost) everything is just a version of a knit or a purl.
