This is my own design, inspired by Interweave Knits Accessories magazine (Fall 2009) earflaps hat pattern but adjusted to my daughter’s head and preferences.

The hearts motif is a traditional Fair Isle pattern and can be found on p. 55 of the book “1000 Great Knitting Motifs” by Luise Roberts, 2004. My hand-colored graph of this motif is included in the .pdf.

To make the white yarn hearts “pop” I used duplicate stitch with a mohair-blend yarn on the heart outlines and the other edges of the solid hearts.
