Introduction
This pattern is dedicated to my better half. I call him my husband even though we are not married on paper. We have been through a lot, especially in the last 4 years, and he has now been by my side for 14 years for better, for worse, in sickness and in health. He is the most loving and kind person, I know and I feel so grateful to have him in my life.
This crochet shawl is worked up in a lace pattern, decorated with hearts and small “petal motifs” are added in between as the pattern progresses. The romantic theme is suited for various occasions and you can choose to tone it up or down, with different choise of yarn and color combinations, depending on which expression you would like.
Pattern
The pattern is written (US terms) as well as fully charted. There are a few photo illustrations for the tricky parts. Charts are available in a tablet / pc version and for print. The chart is divided into parts. You can see a small sample section of the charts in the photos to the left on this page.
Constructions
The shawl is worked flat in rows, starting from the midddle at the neck, making a triangular shape from the beginning.
Materials
I used Kauni for the red shawl. It is a self striping yarn in 100 % wool. It is listed as a fingering yarn in the Ravelry database, but I am pretty sure the variation I used is a sport weight. Try to make a swatch with some yarn at hand to see which weight you prefer. The thinner the yarn the more “lacy” the look.
Crochet hook: 4,5 mm crochet hook/ US 7
Gauge
Is not super imortant. Though if you go under gauge, you will end up with a smaller shawl.
Size
Full measurements after blocking: 140 x 75 cm/ 55 x 29 inch, when following gauge.
Skill level: intermediate
