From Knit Socks!, page 74:

“A reverse stockinette stitch roll tops stylish sport socks that are attractive enough to be seen anywhere. For a double roll look, create the second roll and shorten the sock length by pushing down the first roll approximately half an inch, allowing a second roll to magically appear. They knit up fast using two strands of fingering weight yarn or a single strand of worsted, so you’ll be able to knit up a pair to tuck in all your athletic bags.”

Note: “1 skein of the solid yarn and 1 of th emulti is enough for the smaller size. Socks are knit with yarn doubled throughout.”
