This cowl can be styled to wear different ways - either by fastening the short ends of the rectangle together, or by fastening the button edge to a long side of the rectangle. The cables provide the openings, so there are no button holes!
Low Tide begins with a richly cabled end that transitions into a long section of squishy slipped stitch welts, with edge cables continuing to form tidy sides to the rectangle.

Notions: 6 buttons, size 7/8” or 1”
Needles: larger needle used for body, smaller for button band edge, and cable needle similar to larger needle.

The saltwater marine life of Washington’s coast inspired this organic flow cowl. I fondly remember beach combing in my growing up years, and low tides were especially exciting for the deep water life they revealed when the water’s edge dramatically receded.
Brightly colored spiny starfish, flowerlike anemones, wonderfully tentacled octopuses and long ribbons of twisty kelp all inhabited the rocky tidal pool landscape we explored.

This design is a collaboration with Neighborhood Fiber Company, and uses their Organic Studio Worsted merino to make the most soft and richly textured cowl.
