Lucky in Love Socks
When spring arrives, it’s time to bust out the ankle socks! And this cheerful pair will take you through April showers and May flowers, to Midsummer, when a briefly-blooming red flower, according to the legend, can grant you happiness in love.
The chart as I’ve written it uses 4 colors for some rows, but I’m sure you can simplify it to 2 or 3 if you’re not up to stranding with that many colors. I used yarn bobbins to reduce untangling time.
Although this pattern is written for double pins, cuff-down, you can work it on circular needles, and toe-up.
The pattern is written for 64 sts, but you can use a finer yarn and increase the 16 stitch pattern repeat to 80 sts.
They’re worked on 2.5 mm/US 1.5 needles, but you can go up or down, depending on the yarn you use. Although I used a sport weight yarn, this pattern would be fine in fingering weight.
Yarn used
I used Patons Beehive Baby Sport for the main color, and I find this to be a great choice for socks if, like me, you’re sensitive to wool. I have other socks I’ve made with this yarn, and it wears surprisingly well.
