CONSTRUCTION NOTES
These mittens are knit from the cuff up to the tip of the fingers, with the thumb added at the end. The lucky horseshoe pattern is worked on the top side of the mitten only with a series of increases and decreases. It’s important that the increases don’t make any holes that could let in cold air, so that’s why I prefer RLI and LLI to yarn overs :) You could use m1R (make 1 stitch right) and m1L (make 1 stitch left), but I prefer the lifted increase technique described and demonstrated here: purlsoho.com/create/lifted-increases-rli-lli/

NEEDLES, NOTIONS, & YARN
I used one set of US size 3 (3.25 mm) double-pointed needles and approximately 1.25 skeins of Quince & Co.’s Chickadee yarn in Egret. Each skein is 181 yards (50g), so the mittens require roughly 225 yards where there are 6 or 6.5 stitches per inch. Substitute a sport/DK weight yarn to achieve this gauge if not using Chickadee.
