This hat is amazingly simple and quick to make.

Except for the ear tufts which are worked as the last, finishing touch (and onto existing free loops, not made and attached - I’m never good at ‘position and attach’), the body of this hat is made in one piece, a simple pattern worked in simple rows. All of this wonderful shaping comes just from the joining of the eyes to free loops on the body (no ‘positioning’ or guesswork!).

Pattern includes lots of instructional pics to make this easy hat even easier - definitely do-able for a beginner with basic stitch (sl st, hdc, dc) knowledge!

I used Darice Animal Eyes for the eye centers. They are sold at most craft stores and there are lots available online as ‘animal eyes’ or ‘safety eyes.’ You could also simply work the first round of your eyes in a contrasting color or use buttons.
