“We thought her dying whilst she slept, and sleeping when she died.”
~ Bram Stoker, Dracula, 1897.

A lacy, Victorian-inspired collar, buttoned at the side, featuring Barbara Walker’s Frost Flowers stitch pattern, and lacy bell pleats.

Skills: This collar is knitted lace, worked flat, patterned over both RS and WS rows, requiring some concentration. Experience in lace knitting is recommended. Necessary skills are increases and paired decreases. The pattern is charted.

Sizing: The sample collar has been blocked over a mannequin with neck circumference 34 cm/13”, but could have been easily blocked to a larger size. It stretches up to 38 cm/15”. The width is 10 cm/4”. For a significant increase or decrease in width, bigger or smaller needles can be used, and pattern repeats can added to charts A and B for lenghtening.

Materials: 20g of Pure Lambswool 2ply laceweight yarn, undyed, by Texere Yarns, or yarn with which you obtain gauge. 2.25 mm/US 1 straight or circular needles, or size needed to obtain gauge. Two small, red buttons (shown
buttons 1 cm 0.35” Ø). Mannequin or mat and pins to block. Tapestry needle. Lightweight stitch markers.
