Lula Mae was inspired by the wonderful nubby texture and rich hand-dyed colors of O.U.R. yarn. The body of this modular tunic is worked flat in Reverse Stockinette stitch which beautifully highlights the natural texture of the silk noil. Exposed seams and raw edges show off the unrefined beauty of the garment knitting process while giving it a deconstructed feel. Combining O.U.R. yarn’s drape and colors with a relaxed silhouette and graphic lines creates a feeling reminiscent of the 1920’s. The Lula Mae tunic is both comfortable and flattering, perfect for daily wear or easily dressed up for a night on the town.

Construction notes: The front and back are worked flat from the bottom up in Reverse Stockinette stitch. Shoulder seams are sewn then the sleeves are picked up along the armholes. Next the sleeve and side seams are sewn all in one. Contrast yarn is used to pick up and knit around the sleeve cuffs and tunic hem to create rolled edges. Finally trim strips are picked up and knit, alternating colors and building on each other to fill in the V neckline.
