Embrace the sun and enjoy summer with the Lumina Crochet Shawl.
This summer crochet shawl shines in it’s simplicity with open spaces to let the breeze through, a light weight construction and a true “made for you” feeling. Able to be customized to your perfect size and gorgeous in any color, this summer shawl crochet pattern is a great addition to your wardrobe.
This crochet summer shawl keeps things simple but interesting with an easy 3 row repeat. This helps keep you engaged and having fun, and is a straightforward and easy way to create something flowy, a little open, and super pretty.
SKILL LEVEL:
Advanced Beginner/Easy - Pattern requires knowledge of working in rows, double crochet, chains and working into chain spaces.
This shawl has many rows and will grow in size with each row, which means that you will be placing more stitches each time. A little endurance is needed, too.
PATTERN INCLUDES:
1) Full version PDF with photo tutorial. This photo tutorial also has the steps written in detail, not short hand. The full version PDF is 9 pages long. This crochet pattern PDF also includes a table of row repeats and stitch counts to help keep things simple and easy to read.
2) Printer friendly PDF with only one picture and 4 pages, to save ink.
TERMS USED:
US Standard - Pattern is written in English.
SIZE:
One size, although easy to customize to your preferred size.
Wingspan: Approximately 58 inches.
Depth: Approximately 25 inches.
MATERIALS:
You will need a Fingering (1-Super Fine) weight yarn in a colorway of your choice. You will need approximately 6.8 ounces/195 grams/900 yards. You can choose to create this shawl in one color, multiple colors or use a yarn cake as I did.
Yarn Used: Yarn Bee Rainbow Wrapsody in Brilliant Blonde. I used nearly one entire cake, with some scraps left over.
Because this summer crochet shawl is simple, you can use a different weight of yarn if you prefer. I would recommend going no higher than a Sport or DK weight to make sure summer shawl still has some flow and drape. If you want a heavier, more winter/fall crochet shawl, you can certainly go up to the heavier weights. Be sure to use a hook size that corresponds with your chosen weight.
TOOLS: 3 mm hook, Tapestry needle, Scissors, Stitch Markers
