Luna Moth is a fictional comic book character from the novel “The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay” by Michael Chabon, a story that imagines the inception and success of comic books during World War II. In Chabon’s story, Luna Moth is the first female superhero and a member of The League of the Golden Key, heroes dedicated to winning a shadow war conducted against super villains created by Nazi Germany. Luna Moth draws her power from the moon and can enter human dreams to wage battle.

This Luna Moth is a stranded sock design with a folded picot cuff, a short row heel, striped sole, and stranded super heroine design on the cuff and instep. One pair of socks can be completed with about 200 yards of each color of fingering weight. If you choose to make the sock longer, you will need more yarn.

The yarns used for the prototype are:

Pagewood Farms Hand-Dyed Denali Sock Yarn, color Denim, 1 skein
Miss Babs Cosmic Naked Sock Yarn, color Naked, 1 skein
