The Lundy Puffin Jumper is knitted bottom up, in the round. The body and sleeves are knitted separately first and then all joined together at the yoke. It then has raglan decreases with short rows for neck shaping and a double thickness neckband. There is a wide range of sizes, so you can pick your own positive ease. The sample was knit with 5cm of positive ease for a fitted look.

This is an intermediate level knitting pattern and the techniques involved are stranded colourwork with up to 4 colours at once, the knit stitch, purl stitch, K2 tog, K2 tog tbl, M1R, M1L,working in the round, and a tubular cast on.

The Lundy Jumper features: Puffins, the Old Light Lighthouse, Lundy Ponies, the MS Oldenburg ferry and the Lundy Cabbage flower.

Separately available on my Etsy store is the chart and basic instructions for the sample size I knitted (107cm). The chart could also be used for needlepoint or cross stich patterns, they would just be on a smaller scale when created.

While I’m happy for the chart, or elements of it, to be used to create personal items or gifts, please do not use it to create your own patterns or items for sale.

Information:
Sizes – Finished bust measurements: 69, 76, 84, 91, 99, 107, 114, 122, 130, 137, 145, 152, 160, 168 cm / 27, 30, 33, 36, 39, 42, 45, 48, 51, 54, 57, 60, 63, 66 inches.

Recommended Ease – Around 5 cm / 2 inches of positive ease for a fitted look, as in the sample. For a more relaxed fit, choose a size with the finished bust measurement that gives you the positive ease you would like. Remember that as this jumper is fully in colourwork, it will be less stretchy than a non-colourwork one.

Gauge – 21 stitches and 22 rows to 10 cm / 4 inches in colourwork stockinette in the round on 4.5mm (US 7) needles (or another size to get the gauge), after being washed and blocked.

Yarn – Aran weight yarn of 100m/50g
The sample version is in Filcolana Peruvian Highland Wool. I have estimated the meterage (see picture) needed for each size and colour, based on the amounts of yarn I used in the sample size (107cm). In some cases, you may have leftover stash yarn that can be used for some of the lesser used yarns like red, orange, and light grey.

Needles – 4.5mm & 3.5mm (US 7 & 4) circular needles (or another size needle to get the gauge, making sure that you still go down needles size for the ribbing). For the body, a cable of 60-150cm should be used, just ensure it is shorter than the body circumference of the size you are making. You may also want a longer cable when you join everything in the round for the raglan and then a shorter cable as the raglan approaches the neckline. For the sleeves, DPN’s, short circulars or magic loop can be used.

Notions – Tapestry needle, stitch markers, stitch holder or scrap yarn to hold stitches on.
