Lupin Socks Knitting Pattern

The Lupin Socks are named after my favourite wildflower in British Columbia, Lupinus arcticus, a beautiful purple flowering sub-alpine wildflower. Most recently on a backpacking trip through Manning Park we spotted fields of them, sadly the flowers were not in bloom but the thought of them brought back memories and inspired the name of this sock design!

NOTES
This pattern is written using a cuff-down sock technique. The pattern provides instructions for two types of cuffs: a folded cuff (pictured) or a ribbed cuff. The heel is a traditional heel flap and gusset. The pattern is written for 9” circular needles but can easily be adjusted to use magic loop or double pointed needles.

This is a PDF pattern download. The pattern includes written instructions, a schematic, and photos of the finished product.

This pattern includes three sizes: Small (Medium, Large) fitting a 7-8” (9”, 10-11”) in foot circumference with a 1” gauge of 7 sts/9 rows in stockinette.

YARN
This sock pattern is customizable for a variety of yarn options, using between 80 to 100g of yarn total. You can use DK weight, Fingering held double, or Fingering held with Mohair.

Yardage:
DK weight: 200-300 yards
Fingering held double: 300-425 yards
Fingering + Mohair: 150-200 yards of fingering and 150-200 yards of mohair
