Luscious Lengthwise Linen Stitch Scarf
Blend a variety of yarns and textures in this versatile scarf!
You need three different yarns, in gauges ranging from DK to bulky - the linen stitch blends them beautifully. (Think leftovers! You’ll never look at those partial skeins in your stash the same way again.)
A note on choosing yarns for this project: at least one of your yarns should be fuzzy or fluffy (mohair or hairy novelty yarns!); at least one should be slinky (ribbon yarns!); at least one should be variegated; at least one can be a solid color …
and remember that this is going around the neck, so as many as possible should be soft!
Size 15 circular needles for this one, since it’s worked lengthwise. Some students in my workshops have found that placing markers every 20 or 40 sts helps with the first few rows, while you’re getting the pattern down.
The three yarns are worked one row each for maximum blending! But don’t worry … with three yarns, you don’t need to cut the yarn each time! (Thanks to one of Sally Melville’s patterns, which uses the same one-row-each-of-three strategy.)
