Lush Fringed Scarf
This scarf is knit sideways, gradually increasing to the desired width, then knit straight for a bit, then decreased. The fringe is added as the piece is knit: no messing with a zillion ends!
It makes a great gift and requires only basic knitting skills and even more basic crochet skills and if crochet scares you, there are instructions to do that part with knitting instead.
The yardage required will depend on the yarn of course: the colored scarf used 215 yards and the plain scarf used about 300 yards. The pattern includes notes regarding re-sizing options if you have less yarn available.
The yarn and gauge are not critical: clear and simple instructions are provided so it can be sized to suit the yarn you are using. The multi-colour version is made of Noro Silk Garden - I repurposed a sweater for this. The solid colour is made with Silk City Paloma and this fabric is lush and drapey with a beautiful hand.
The only suggestion is to avoid yarns of heavy fiber or dense construction, as they might make the fabric too stiff for the scarf to drape nicely.
