Notes from the Designer:
Cuddle up with this blanket and a book on a rainy day, or make this quick and warm project as a last-minute gift or for a charity event. A larger hook with two strands of DK yarn held together makes this a quick, simple, and warm blanket pattern that is perfect for beginning crocheters. I love to crochet quick projects with thicker yarns or yarns held double and bigger hooks. Blankets usually seem to take forever to make, sometimes causing me to lose interest before I complete the project. This one was very quick and very fun for me to both design and crochet.
I like simple stripes and textures and included both in this blanket design. The center stripes are made using rows of crochet Griddle Stitch alternated with rows of double crochet. It is an elegant design that uses basic crochet stitches and features alternating stripes of textured and smooth stitches for an interesting blend of softness and style. Both sections are also reflected in the border to give the blanket the appearance of framed art.
