DK #3 weight Eastport Alpaca yarn works  well on the mid-gauge machine. Gauge is approximate and may be varied with the felting process. Some samples were knitted on the Artisan 70-D at stitch size 10 and some on the  Brother 260 at stitch size 3. The booties on both machines  are just the same after felting. Brother KX350, Silver Reed LK140 and LK150 may also be used. It is not necessary that the booties look  perfect or be perfectly sized when knitted because felting will hide a multitude of small  issues. These booties are sized to fit newborns. Some adjustment in size may be made  during the felting process. This pattern is an adaptation of my original felted bootie pattern that appears in The Fabulous Felted Footwear Collection along with many adult shoe  and slipper styles. The numbers in this pattern have been altered to work with this specific yarn and work only with this particular yarn. 220-260 yards.
