Macaws
This listing is for my macaw amigurumi pattern. The parrot crochet pattern includes written and detailed photo instructions for a Scarlet Macaw and Blue-and-Yellow Macaw, both sitting and flying.
The heads, bodies and tails are crocheted in one piece. The beaks and wings are sewn on.
You have the option of crocheting the feet or shaping them with craft wire. Macaws with crocheted feet won’t be able to stand but you can hang them up so they can fly.
The macaw crochet pattern includes photo tutorials on how to make a magic ring, invisible decreases in single crochet, and closing small rounds.
PATTERN LANGUAGE: English (US) only
MATERIALS AND TOOLS:
- 4-ply/Fingering or DK/light worsted yarn For the Scarlet Macaw: Red, yellow, blue, white, and black I used Paintbox Yarns Cotton DK in Pillar Red (415), Mustard Yellow (424), Sailor Blue (440), Champagne White (403), and Granite Grey (407) instead of black. For the Blue-and-Yellow Macaw: blue (turquoise), yellow, dark blue, green, white, and black I used Scheepjes Catona in Vivid Blue (147), Yellow Gold (208), Midnight (527), Parrot Green (241), Snow White (102), and chocolate (507) instead of black. 2.5mm crochet hook / Size B-1 or C-2 depending on how tightly you crochet

- Yarn needle (preferably with bent tip)
- 0.8 to 1mm thick craft wire (optional)

SIZE:
The Macaws will be about 12.5cm/5” long from head to tail. The sitting one will be about 3cm/1.75“ wide and the flying one will have a wingspan of about 10cm/4”.
If you would like them to be larger or smaller, you can use a different yarn weight and adjust the hook size accordingly.
