Machine Knitted Harry Bear
This is my machine knit instructions for Berroco’s Harry Bear. The converted handknit pattern which this is based on is used with kind permission of Berroco.
It is not a simple bear (there are plenty of those available) this is a fully shaped bear, with increases, decreases and wrap and turn. The shaping is symmetrical, all shapings are identical both sides in the same row.
Wrap and turn method is machine set to hold, bring needle/s out on the opposite side, knit that row, bring the adjacent needle out to automatically wrap, and for the second row only, bring out the required number of needles (on the right) then auto wrap and turn the required number of times. NOTE: sometimes there are increases and wrap and turns in the same row.
Size of the bear depends on the yarn and machine chosen to knit it. Personally, I like the Eyelash style with the fibres close to the cord making sewing up easy, then brush to release them.
NOTE: I’ve put up an expanded instruction version with extra photos showing and finishing notes.
