The Madalena pullover is a comfortable warm layer for those early spring days or the chilly autumn ones. A classic timeless striped pullover to wear either as loungewear or to channel your inner marinière with a pair of jeans or leggings. It is designed with a boxy cut and loose handcuffs. A cozy addition to your wardrobe.
It is seamlessly knitted from top to bottom, in the round, with a triangle saddle shoulder detail. Then, raglan increases are worked to form the armholes. The work is then divided at the lower body in front and back and worked back and forth. A double-knitted band is added to both sides forming the hem. The neck is picked up and worked in the round. Finally, the sleeves are knitted in the round as well.
The pattern is called “Madalena” as this is the Spanish translation of “madeleine”, a traditional French small sponge cake with stripes. Striped garments always remind me of France and this is a little homage to a precious holiday moment, popping in a boulangerie (bakery) to get some madeleines for breakfast.
Adaptations can be done to the achieve another sleeve, body and/or neck length.

Needles:

• 4.0 mm circular (60, 80 or 100 cm) and double pointed (or short circular needles or use magic loop method)
• 4.5 mm circular (60, 80 and/or 100 cm) and double pointed (or short circular needles or use magic loop method) or the required needles to obtain the gauge
• (Optional) 3.0 mm circular (40cm) or double pointed (or short circular needles or use magic loop method) for the neck bind off

Gauge: 10 cm x 10 cm → 19 stitches x 29 rows after blocking (done with 4.5 mm needles)

Extras: Stitch markers, tapestry needle, scrap yarn or cable to provisionally hold the sts.

Skill level: Medium
