Madam Librarian Triangular Lace Shawl
Madam Librarian is a knitted triangular lace shawl/shawlette pattern that is knit from the top (neck) down. The lace patterns are simple, understated, and traditional, something the librarian from the Music Man, Marian, would be happy to wear on the job. Perhaps she might later choose to dress it up a bit by wearing it tied over an evening gown on a date with the infamous Harold Hill. The choice would be hers…or yours! The body of the shawl is covered in an all-over pattern of triangular lace, and the bottom is finished in a chevron border. It works up best in a fine yarn fiber (I have used Cascade Pima Cotton in sand, Ultra-Fine size 2 weight, a little over 2 skeins of 136 yards each skein, but any yarn can be chosen with varying effects. This pattern includes the written line by line instructions, and also a chart, although the chart is merely a general guideline of what the right half of the body of the shawl looks like in chart form. It can be read easily though with your PDF viewer in an enlarged size. The left half is a mirrored repeat of the charted right half. The border is not charted and is added on after the body of the shawl is worked.
