This is my second design named after a musical drama. Puccini’s opera ’Madame Butterfly’ tells the story about the geisha Butterfly, who falls madly in love with and marries Pinkerton, an American officer, during his stay in Japan. Eventually she becomes abandoned by both Pinkerton and her own family. I saw Madame Butterfly a couple of years ago, and it was a very beautiful and moving experience.

The pattern is fully written with pictures. The size of the finished piece is approx 44 centimeters in diameter. Please note that size and the amount of yarn needed may be different if you use another yarn.
