This cowl was designed to celebrate the hand-dyed yarns of Prado de Lana, Wing and a Prayer Farm, and other natural dyers. The design elements in the colorwork motif - flowering plants, vines and trees - represent the natural materials that shepherdesses Amanda and Tammy harvest on their farms to create magic in their dye pots, like madder and marigold. The overdyed shades of Prado de Lana’s Ovejas evoke a sepia-toned, vintage feel, while the many shades and speckles of Wing and a Prayer Farm’s Thelma and Louise bring in every season - spring, summer, fall or winter!

Sample 1: Wing and a Prayer Farm Thelma and Louise (main color), Prado de Lana Ovejas Romney in Chile Guajillo (contrast color)

Sample 2: Prado de Lana Ovejas Romney (light worsted, 200 yards, 4 oz per skein) in Madder, Marigold and Wattle (main color) and Calabaza (contrast color)

Note: the pattern is intended for DK-weight yarn, although light-worsted may be used if equivalent. If substituting a thicker worsted weight yarn for either the main or contrast color, a larger needle size may be needed; please check gauge and yardage to ensure sufficient yarn for your project.
