YARN REQUIREMENTS
These are approximate numbers, the total yarn usage will depend on your personal gauge, the yarn you chose and all the modifications you will make.
For this beanie, you’ll need 2 colors:
• Main Colour (blue) 50g
• Contrasting colour (yellow) 40g
• you can add a third after finishing the knitting as a decor (white) the instructions are given in the pattern.
This color combination can be seen in the title photo. You can also choose any other combination.
SUGGESTED YARN
The sweater is knitted with:
Nakyang I’m Wool 4
100% merino wool, 175m/100g
Colors: 175 Dark Blue, 112 Gold, 101 Ivory
Alternative yarns can be, eg Donegal Tweed Double, 95m/50g
TOOLS AND MATERIALS
• Circular needles
• Tapestry needle or crochet hook for weaving in ends and decoration
• Stitch markers
• Scrap yarn
Note that needle size should be adjusted individually to achieve the specified gauge.
CONSTRUCTION
This hat is worked from the bottom up:
The left and right ear flaps are knitted separately in rows.
The ear flaps are joined at the back and a few short rows are worked for shaping.
The front and back sections are joined in the round, and the rest of the hat is knitted in the round.
The cast-on edges of the ear flaps, back, and front are worked using waste yarn, allowing the stitches to be reopened later for finishing with an i-cord edge.
KNITTING GAUGE
15-16 sts and 20 rows = 4 inches/10 cm in stockinette stitch. Gauge is given for stockinette stitch (provided after blocking).
