Madison Shoulder Wrap
This oversized, cute wrap is great for all seasons - in a fine yarn for warmer weather, or worsted weight for colder seasons. The pattern gives different instructions for the different yarn weights, so you can make it in almost any yarn.
Size: ONE SIZE ADULT (or custom size)
Yarn in samples:
A: Katia Harmonia #208 (#3 weight / fine yarn)
B: Mondial Merino Aran #453 (#4 weight / heavy worsted yarn)
Yarn needed:
A: fine/light/# 2-3/4-5 ply: 1 200-1 400 m/1 300-1 500 y
B: medium worsted/# 3-4/8-10 ply: 1 100-1 300 m/1 200-1 400 y
If you want to make it longer, or turn it into a sweater, you’ll need
another 600-800 m / 650-900 y approximately, depending on the size.
(You can use almost any yarn you like, but the thinner yarn gives a better drape.
You’ll need to figure out yarn requirements for other yarns.
If you’re unsure, you can write to me for help at home@creatureshop.dk)
Hook size:
A: Fine yarn: 3 mm / US D (and 4 mm / US G for starting chain)
B: Medium yarn: 4 mm / US G (and 5 mm / US H for starting chain) (or your choice, depending on gauge and yarn)
Gauge: 16 st x 14 rows = 10 x 10 cm in HDC on 3 mm / D hook in fine weight (or whatever suits your yarn and/or preference)
Finished, blocked measurements:
Length wrist to wrist: 144 cm / 57” or 150 cm / 59“ (or custom length)
Height: 32 cm / 13” or 35 cm / 14“ (or custom height)
Neck opening: 40 cm / 18” for both yarn weights (or custom width)
Requirements: Measuring tape, stitch markers
It is worked in one piece from the bottom up, over the shoulders and down the back. It can also be made in 2 separate pieces, and sewn together.
The original pattern includes some more complex stitches like FHDC, FPDC, TR2tog and pompoms, BUT there are also simpler options available for all of these, so therefore suited to intermediate crocheters, while the simplified versions are accessible to confident beginners.
The instructions include lots of photos, and I’m always ready to help clarify where needed.
The pattern has been tested thoroughly, and checked for errors.
