A nice crochet shopper bag that became a “must have” in the last summers and that you will love.
This pattern gives you several options to personalize your bag and make it unique:
First of all, you can choose the dimensions: a smaller bag called “La Mafaldina” (30 x 25 cm) or a bigger one called “La Mafalda” (30 x 28 cm).
Length and width of the bag straps are up to you, depending on if you prefer a handbag, a shoulder bag or a cross-body bag.
You can also choose how to finish the bag straps: with ruffles or with picots.
The bag is worked from the bottom – up, seamlessly, in round. The bag straps are worked flat, back and forth. Single crochet stitches are used for the bottom of the bag, then the crossed double crochet is used as a light and romantic lace motive either for the bag and the bag straps, that can be finished with ruffles or with picots.

MATERIALS:
1. Viscose or paper raffia, cotton cord, thai cord
Estimate yardage depending on how big you decide to make la bag, how long you will make the bag straps, if you decide to finish the bag with picots or with ruffles (that need more yarn): Anyway, you can approximately consider: 150 – 300 m (170 – 320 yards)
2. 4.0 mm and 3.5 mm crochet hook
Gauge:16 sts x 20 rows in single crochet stitch for a 10 cm square.
