Magdalena Romantic Shawl is designed in such a way that it could be worn as is, or it could be sewn to make a cowl.

The whole shawl is done without any break. The first part is done in rows (one row is the entire length of the shawl), and when it is finished, you just continue with the border. In the end, you will have only two ends of yarn to weave in.

The shawl is 20 cm / 7.87 inches wide and 90 cm / 35.43 inches long.
To make the shawl, you need:
• a 3.5mm hook (US E-4, UK 9)
• scissors
• a tapestry needle
• Alize Angora Gold yarn – I used color no. 404 – Champagne – 80g / 2.82 oz or 440 m / 481 yards. Bear in mind that the yarn is rather thin (550m / 601 yards in 100g / 3.53 oz)

Gauge: 8 rows of 16 DCs = 9 x 9 cm square (3.54×3.54 inches square)

Abbreviations (US crochet terms):
• CH – chain
• ST – stitch
• SC – single crochet
• SL ST – slip stitch
• HDC – half double crochet
• DC – double crochet
• 3 Dc Cl – 3 DC Cluster stitch
• V ST – V stitch – I modified the original V stitch so that when doing the first row of the V stitch, you skip only one ST and insert your hook in the second stitch.
• TR ST – treble stitch – 7 TR STs in the same stitch to create the shell stitch border
• YO – yarn over the hook
• SK – skip

In the end, you will decide whether you want to wear it casually wrapped or fastened with a pin as in the first picture, or whether you would instead join and sew the part of the border.

Happy crocheting!
