Maghreb is a colorwork shawl with oriental notes and raglan-type increases. You can knit it any size, either with 3 or 4 segments of a hexagon. The pattern uses mostly slipped stitches in combination with a simple new technique (photo tutorial included). Only one color is used per row.

Materials:

  • 3.5mm circular needles with at least 1m long wire. - fingering-weight yarn (400m/ 100g). For the shawl as on the title photo (yellow, 4/6 of a hexagon), you’ll need 130g of yellow, 100g of dark blue/green, and 60g of bright blue (for dots and the border) yarn. I also used about 20g of variegated leftovers for the stripe between the patterned panels.
  • locking stitch markers for increase lines (2 or 3).
Gauge: one cell in large lattice is 5cm wide by 6 cm tall. In small lattice, one cell is 2.5 X 2.5 cm. Size: the yellow shawl drops 80 cm, wingspan 180 cm. You can knit it absolutely any size.
