This is a pattern to crochet your own Magic Mountain blanket which is covered in broad, geometric chevrons. You can download the pattern in PDF form immediately after payment.

After payment you will have access to two files, one is written in UK terminology and the second is written in US terminology. It is 24 pages long and in full colour with photo tutorials comprising no fewer than 38 photographs walking you through everything. The pattern is written in English.

A variety of sizes are catered for in the pattern from small lap blanket right up to a King size bed. The size photographed easily serves as a throw over a large armchair or covers a standard double divan bed.

The blanket photographed is 71 x 76 in / 182 x 194 cm and crocheted in Stylecraft Special DK yarn but any DK/Light Worsted/Weight 3 (8ply) yarn may be substituted. To make the blanket shown a total of 24 x 100g was used.

Overlay mosaic technique is used throughout the body of the blanket. Two colours are alternated, one colour per row. A full explanation of how to work overlay mosaic crochet stitches is contained within the pattern but visual learners may wish to familiarise themselves with these two stitches in advance of purchase by viewing them on one of the many videos available on YouTube.

The pattern also includes a detailed tutorial on how to make the double border shown on the blanket. The border tidies up all the yarn tails left over at the end of the work so there are only five ends to sew in even though I’ve used so many colours!

A chart is provided (with ‘x’s) for experienced crocheters but you do not have to read charts to make this blanket, every row is written out in full as well.

The only stitches which may not be familiar to are:

UK:
dc-blo double crochet back loop only
tr-flo treble crochet front loop only

USA:
sc-blo single crochet back loop only
dc-flo double crochet front loop only

If you are a beginner with a little experience, the technique is easy to learn and I am always available by e-mail to help, just message me. I don’t do videos for my patterns but the included photographic tutorials are very comprehensive.

A typical hook to use is 4mm (G-6). Depending on yarn thickness, you may have to adjust hook size to achieve the correct gauge.
