Magic Ring - Tutorial
by Wee Sandy
What is a Magic Ring?
A Magic Ring is a stitch option you can use to begin a Round in crochet, as an alternative to the usual “ch2, sc X number of stitches in 2nd ch from hook.” Instead of working into a ch, you work it into an adjustable ring that can be pulled tightly closed.
Why Use a Magic Ring?
With the usual method, you end up with a little hole in the center of the first round. The Magic Ring creates a first round that can be closed very tightly so that there is no hole.
This is a great advantage when making amigurumi crochet toys, especially, where you don’t want the stuffing to show through!
Difficulty level: Moderately Easy
Materials:
- any yarn you choose
- crochet hook to match yarn choice
