Little girls love furry scarves, so this is an easy & fast gift for a girly girl! This one stretches many ways, as shown. My DD even tried it on as a tube dress, but I refuse to publish that photo!

Any furry yarn will probably work. You could easily make this larger and/or longer for a bigger child, probably needing 3 to 5 balls of yarn, and casting on more sts as needed.
