This is version of spiral socks, self-adapting, no-heel and no fuss. If you haven’t already, be sure to start, it will become your habit.
The main attraction of No Heel Spiral Socks, is the a simple elastic spiral. This twisted spiral is going to hug any shape perfectly, since it produces a very stretchy tube, that creates a different kind of sock, fitting any length of foot perfectly fine - without the need of any heel construction!
The advantages of the spiral socks:
There is no heel: is no need to “turn” a heel or to construct heel flaps, to do short rows or pick up stitches. This means that there is no need to calculate the length of the foot or to try to understand when there is time to start with the gusset. This sock provides ease of execution and a guaranteed fit (it is also a very good option for gift-knitting, because of all of this)
There also is no right or left sock which means that there is NO instep or sole!
This has the advantage that the socks might hold up well over longer period of time, since they will not be worn in the exact same position and will therefore not wear out as quickly as other socks on the usual areas like heel and sole!
Keep in mind that the is spiral socks needs to be twisted into shape when worn, so as to adjust perfectly over the heel and ankle section. The spiral needs to be “in-spiraled” and sock will have a slight spiraling direction.
