These socks with textural stitch pattern are knit from toe up to the cuff. They feature a simple short row heel, the so called fleegle heel - with no wraps, no yarn overs, no picking up stitches. They can be knit on circular needles with magic loop, one or two at a time, or - if preferred - with DPNs.

The socks are called after the main character from the Netflix’s series „Ragnarok” - Magne, who is supposed to be the embodiment of Thor. The pattern resembles the runelike and thunderlike symbol on the hammer belonging to Magne’s father. I knit most of the first sample while watching the show.

The textural pattern will best shown with solid or tonal color.
The pattern includes written as well as charted instructions for 4 sizes - 52, 56, 60 and 64 stitches, but because the pattern is completely symmetrical, the number of stitches can be easily adjusted.

MATERIALS:
Yarn: 200-400 m of fingering weight yarn (400m/100g)
Actual yarn usage depends on the foot and leg size, that are both adjustable.
The sample is shown in Miss Knitski Merino (400m/100g) color Everglades in size 60 sts and 42 EU men’s size. The yardage for the sample was 260 m (285 yds).
Needles: 2.5 mm 80 cm (1 1/2 US 32 in) circular needles/DPNs or needles to obtain gauge
Gauge: 35 sts x 44 rows - 10 cm x 10 cm (4 in x 4 in) in stockinette stitch, unstretched
If you have a proven needle size and gauge that work for you when knitting socks, just go ahead with it.
Other: 2 stitch markers, tapestry needle

SIZE:
52/56/60/64 stitches - corresponding with foot circumference of approximately 18/20/22/24 cm (7/7.9/8.7/9.5 in)
Foot length - adjustable
Leg length - adjustable
