Mahana Cowl
Technique: Two-colored Brioche Knitting
Skill Level: intermediate
The Mahana Cowl Pattern is a 3-page pattern containing photos, illustrations and detailed written instructions. Video help is also available.
You will need: 2 skeins of Worsted Weight Yarn in complimenting colors, approx. 246 yds each. Circular Knitting Needles: US 5 (3.75 mm), 24” (60cm) long, one extra circular needle, same size/any length to use for cast on. US 7 (4.25 mm) any type, to use for bind off. Stitch marker. Tapestry needle.
If you’ve worked a brioche pattern before, you might agree that this technique makes for a very rhythmic knitting experience once you get the hang of it…and honestly, it won’t take you long to do so. The ribbed texture of Brioche is extremely stretchy and soft - perfect for a cowl that will keep your neck nice and cozy!
Whether you have or haven’t tried this technique, you’ll find that two different colors are actually superb visual learning tools, and as long as you take your time, you’ll love finding and working the Brioche Rhythm!
