This shawl is knit using Jacquard (stranded knitting, colorwork) and is large enough to comfortably drape around the shoulders.
It’s knit in the round with a 5-stitch steek. The steek stitches are then reinforced with crochet and cut to create a rectangle. To avoid sewing in all those ends, you will then pick up and knit the stitches around the shawl before sewing the edges down to hide the steek stitches.

With exception of the sheep pattern, all the motifs in this pattern use only two colors without creating long floats.
The sheep pattern is a bit more complicated, using three colors at a time, but it’s just for 4 rnds so no need to worry - you can do it!

Size: 70 x 180 cm / 27.5” x 70”

Yarn: Mährle Rhönschaf, 50 g / 90 m,
100% pure wool, 15 colors,
one 50 g ball per color = 15 x 50 g

Needles: 5 mm / US 8 circular needles in 60 and 150 cm (24” and 60 ”)

Notions: 3 mm crochet hook, fingering weight wool yarn in a contrasting color to reinforce steek, clips or clothespins, scissors, stitch markers, tapestry needle for sewing in ends, t-pins for blocking

Gauge: 17 sts in Fair-Isle pattern = 10 cm / 4”
For this project, gauge is not so important, however with colorwork, it is important to make sure you’re knitting with even, not too tight tension for the colorwork to really show. Knit the swatch, wash it, and pin flat to dry before measuring.

Please note: Different yarn, needle size and different use of colors will affect the amount of yarn you need.

Dieses große Schultertuch ist in Fair-Isle-Technik (Jacquardstricken, stranded knitting) gestrickt.

Es wird in der Runde gestrickt mit einem Steek aus 5 Maschen. Die Steekmaschen werden nach dem Stricken mit 2 Linien Häkelstichen befestigt und aufgeschnitten. Für den Rand werden rundum Maschen aufgenom¬men, gestrickt und nach hinten umgeschlagen und so festgenäht, dass der Rand die aufgeschnittenen Steekmaschen umfasst und versteckt. Ihr müsst also diese Fäden nicht alle vernähen!

Die Muster des Tuchs sind, bis auf das Schafmuster, einfach zu stricken. Es gibt keine langen Spannfäden auf der Rückseite und in einer Runde wird immer nur mit zwei Farben gestrickt.
Das Schafmuster hingegen ist etwas aufwändiger, daes unregelmäßig ist und 4 Runden mit drei Farben pro Runde gestrickt werden.
Aber keine Angst, das schafft ihr!

Nadeln: Rundstricknadeln 5 mm, 60 und 150 cm

Zubehör: Stopfnadel zum Vernähen der Fäden, Maschenmarkierer, Schere, Wäscheklammern, Häkelnadel 3 mm und fingering Wollgarn in Kon-trastfarbe zum Steeken, T-Pins oder Quiltstecknadeln zum Blocken

Maschenprobe: 10 cm = 17 M, glatt re mit Fair-Isle- Muster, Nd 5 mm, in Rd gestr, gewaschen, in Form gezogen, nach dem Trocknen gemessen.

Bei diesem Projekt ist die Maschenprobe nicht ganz so wichtig. Achtet aber unbedingt darauf ein „entspanntes“ Strickbild zu produzieren.

Abweichendes Garn, andere Nadelstärke oder geänderte Farben im Muster haben Auswirkungen auf den Garnverbrauch.
