An elegant lady crochet pattern, complete with clothes for making her into a beautiful fairy, or a mischievous witch.

To create this project, you will need:

  • DK yarn in light peach (for skin)
  • DK yarn in brown (for hair)
  • DK yarn in black (for clothes)
  • DK yarn in green, purple and orange (for clothes). Any colours may be used for this pattern, these are just the colours I used for the witch pattern, pictured.
  • 2mm crochet hook
  • Safety eyes (I used 10mm)
  • Toy stuffing
  • Yarn needle
  • Scissors

Optional extras:

  • Stitch markers
  • Pipe cleaners or other craft wire
  • Fake eyelashes
  • Fabric glue
  • Tweezers
  • Small brush
  • Blusher

All terminology is in US terms, and the abbreviations are as follows:

St(s) – stitch(es)
Ss or sl st– slip stitch
Ch – chain
Sc – single crochet
Hdc – half double crochet
Dc – double crochet
Tc – treble crochet
Sc2ins/hdc2ins/dc2ins – single/half double/double crochet 2 in the next stitch (increase)
Sc2tog/hdc2tog/dc2tog – single/half double/double crochet 2 stitches together (decrease)
* …. * - repeat from the first * to the next *
BO – Bind off

The magic ring technique is used for the different parts, but don’t worry if you don’t know this.

Instead, chain 4 stitches, and slip stitch into the first chain. You will have created a little ring. Use this as your ‘magic ring’ and do your stitches into the middle of this where the pattern requires the technique.

This pattern requires very little sewing for the most part (though, the skirt requires a lot of sewing in ends), as pieces are attached by crocheting them together. (Instructions on how to do this are included).
