These socks were first designed for the Crochet competition of the 10th Abilympics held in Metz, France in March 2023.
Abilympics are an international competition of skills for people with a disability. I was the chief judge of the crochet section and designed the subject and notation chart. It was quite an amazing event, and the contestants were able to make a slighlty less tall version of this sock in about 2.5 hours. They were so amazingly skilled… and quick too (see my video of the silver medal winner).

Ce patron a été à l’origine créé pour la compétition interationale des métiers “Abilympics” pour personnes en situation de handicap, à Metz en mars 2023. J’y étais expert-métier et chef-juge, et responsable du sujet de l’épreuve: les candidats ont du crocheter une version un peu moins haute de cette chaussette en 3h seulement ! Les candidates étaient ultra fortes, impressionnantes de précision, talent … et ultra rapides !!
