This kitbag is knitted in a helix on a circular needle - each round includes a short run of each of the twelve colours, so there is no need to carry yarn up or sew in lots of ends. If twelve balls sounds like more than you fancy managing, it would be easy to adapt the pattern for six or just three colours. The great thing about using twelve colours is that you only need less than 50m of each, so this bag would be good for using up leftovers of yarn or small skeins. I’ve used double knitting weight yarn in 100% wool, which shrinks a bit in the wash to give a stronger, stiffer fabric. Thicker yarn would make a bigger bag and vice versa - as you choose.

I used soft rope for the handles, so they won’t stretch with use. The pattern includes a link to instructions for splicing rope, which is easier than you might imagine.
