The Maine Pine Cone hat is designed to look like a pine cone, with the word “Maine” knit around the band. It has a corrugated ribbing, with a knit & purl design for the body. Size options are discussed in the article “Tips for Knitting my hats” on our website www.mrsknitterdesigns.com. Fingering weight wool is used - about an ounce or less each of 4 colors. We also sell kits including my favorite yarn.

VARIATION: If the knitter would like to leave out the word “Maine”, a different motif, such as trees could be knit in, or just 3-5 plain green rows. The hat is deep enough for most people so that three plain green rows would still be deep enough to cover a man’s ears.
