Maja Pants
DESCRIPTION
Is there anything more cute and comfy for little ones than knitted pants? I don’t think so. And striped garments are a
great way to use up scrap yarns. So check your stash for sportweight yarns, combine as you like and start knitting! I
have knitted this kind of pants for years for all the babies and kids I know, and my kids literally lived in them. If you
use non-superwash wool (for sensitive skin, use Merino), they never really get dirty: they just need the occasional
wash. And they keep babies warm, without making them sweaty – wool is a great material for babies’ clothes.
I love to see your knits on social media, especially on instagram, I am @colourblogivn.
Please use #majapants and #ivnknit
The name Maja is not only the name of our newest member of the family; it’s also a little hint for stripes (if you
know Bee Maya, a famous german cartoon about a little bee and her friends).
The pattern is tech edited by Amelia Wodsdon @woollenwords and testknitted by talented testknitters. Check out their projects!
SIZES
3m (6m / 9m / 12m / 18m) (2y / 3y / 4y / 5y)
Sizing is a guide only and you should pick the finished measurement size closest to the wearer’s measurements,
plus a bit of positive ease. The pants are on the fitted size so choose a size up to get a more relaxed fit. Picking a
size larger is always a good idea for quick growing babies. These pants are designed to wear with average-sized
diapers. If you use cloth diapers, which are usually larger, you can easily knit a larger size and shorten the leg
length a bit.
NEEDLES
Circular needles to obtain gauge: one larger (recommended 3,5 mm (US 5)) and one smaller (recommended 3,0 mm

Optional: double-pointed needles in both sizes (if you don’t want to work the legs with the magic loop method)
Spare circular needle in smaller size (for working the folded waistband).
