This two-color shawl begins at the top edge with a garter tab cast on. Stitches are picked up and knit along the edge of the garter tab and the shawl is worked flat, downward and outward from there.

When alternating colors every two rows it is not necessary to cut the yarn. Simply carry the yarns loosely up the side.
