Use either DK or Bulky yarn:
DK - ~200 yards on a US8 (5mm) needle
Bulky - ~165 yards on a US9 (5.5mm) needle

Close with buttons (instructions for buttonholes included) or your favorite closure. Or sew the ends together, if you like.
