Maker's Dozen
My earliest memory of learning how to braid happened when I was 5 years old. I remember my mom showing me the technique of overlapping strands using… bread dough? Together, we made a braided cheesy bread loaf for dinner at a friend’s house while my parents had a date night. The bread didn’t taste great, but the memory of braiding stuck with me since then. Over the years, baking has been something we both enjoy separately and together. This shawl is inspired by my mom and bread.
