----- “Making Memories” Square -----
This cute square is easy and fast to work up. As I was fiddling around with it, I was reminded of the 70’s for some reason. Lol!

  • Written in US terms.

  • Pattern listing is for SQUARE only.

  • Squares pictured are made with Red Heart Roll With It Melange in Show Time.

  • Size “J” hook.

  • Squares measure approx. 4.5” × 4.5”.

  • Stitch count = 14 stitches per side.

  • (Any weight of yarn can be used with a suitably sized hook. Size will vary.)

  • Each square used approx. 22 - 24 yds. (I got approx. 24 - 26 squares per cake.)

A few details of how I put my squares together for the blanket pictured.

“Making Memories” Square Blanket

Using Lion Brand Pound of Love in “Pumpkin Pie” for the joining gave these squares the retro look I was going for. (As I was designing the square, I thought it looked somewhat vintage and my thoughts for naming the square were along the lines of memories of the 70’s.)

  • I joined my squares with a Tight Join using SC.

  • I then went around the blanket with a BORDER made up of FOUR rounds of Moss/Linen stitch. I did SC, chain 2, SC for the CORNERS. (I did three of the rounds with the Pumpkin Pie color and one round with an accent color.)

  • I then did my Mini Triangle Edging for the last round.

Mini Triangle Edging: Onto the base of Moss/Linen Stitch and working only in the chain 1 or chain 2 spaces. -- SC, CHAIN 2, SC in chain 1 space. SS in next chain 1 space. SC, CHAIN 2, SC in next chain 1 space. Repeat all around, making 2 SC, CHAIN 2, 2 SC in the chain 2 CORNER spaces.

Fasten off. Weave in ends.
