Making Spirits Bright can be knit at either of 2 gauges: 24 sts & 28 rows/4” (blocked) in the Fir Tree cable pattern is appropriate for DK yarn; Or 22 sts & 28 rows/4” (blocked) in the cable pattern is appropriate for either heavy DK or Worsted yarn.
The pattern includes directions (and a tutorial on YouTube) for working the right-crossing (RC) cables as “faux cables” that make the knitting much easier and give a better look for these particular cables in the round. The hat can be worked in either DK or worsted weight yarn as a beanie or with a bit of slouch—you get to choose based on what’s in your stash and whose head will be wearing it.
