Making Tracks Hat
This colourwork beanie hat with its simple but bold design is surprisingly simple to knit! The design as written uses only 2 colours, making this project particularly suitable for someone trying out colourwork for the first time or even more experienced knitters looking for a simple colourwork design that is quick to knit up. This hat is knitted in the round so no seaming is required.
Suggested yarn: 5ply/sport weight yarn or heavy fingering weight yarn. I used Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino.
Quantities: No more than 125m in each shade
Suggested needles: Size 3mm(US2-3), 3.25mm (US3) circular needle or DPNs. If you find your tension tightens for the fairisle you can go up to a 3.50mm (US4) needle.
Large blunt sewing needle
Pom pom maker (optional)
Stitch marker
Gauge: 25sts and 32 rows over 10cm (4”) in stocking stitch using 3.25mm (US3) needles

Actual finished circumference: 43/46/48.5/53cm (17/18/19/21 inches) – height 18/21/23/25.5cm (7/8¼/9/10 inches)
These sizes are the “unstretched” sizes – the hat will stretch to fit average size heads in the age range.
