Malin is a chunky cowl worked in super bulky weight yarn. The stitch is Fisherman’s Rib which gives the cowl a delicious springy feel and is ultra warm. The pattern is quick to work up on big needles and is an easy knit.

The name of the pattern is taken from one of the sea regions in the Shipping Forecast which broadcasts regularly on BBC radio. On the day I published this pattern the forecast was:

Malin
Wind - Cyclonic, becoming southeast, 5 to 7, but becoming variable 3 or 4 for a time.
Sea state - Rough or very rough.
Weather - Occasional rain.
Visibility - Good, occasionally poor.

Sounds like this cowl would be the perfect accessory for sailing the sea today!

The pattern is in written format and includes a knitting chart.

Happy Knitting!
