The Mallee bonnet is named after the beautiful Mallee region in north-western Victoria, Australia. The main section of the bonnet is worked flat before joining in the round to complete the crown shaping. The simple, easy to memorise pattern is worked over multiples of 4 stitches across 4 row repeats.

I have provided instructions for crochet ties, however an i-cord could easily be used instead. Given the multitude of methods for creating an i-cord, I have opted to not include instructions for this option. Instead, I would encourage you to find a method that works best for you.
