Malmstrom is a simple yet effectful beanie hat. With its slouchy shape and simple pattern it is suitable for both women and men. Just grab your favourite DK weight yarn and cast on this mindless knit. For and advanced knitter this can be the perfect knit while watching TV oder chatting with your friends.

Malmstrom was named after the German book “The 13 ½ lives of Captain Bluebear” whose events take place on the fictional and long lost continent of Zamonia. In this world the Malmstrom is the “most monstrous, most dangerous and loudest water vortex of the seven seas”. The protagonist Captain Bluebear almost drowns in the Malmstrom at the beginning of the events.

The shown examples use “Wollmeise Merino DK”, colours “Tutu Dark” (pink) and “Maus (alt)” (dark grey) and also “Madelinetosh DK Twist”, colour “Cosmic Silver” (light grey with speckles).

A tip for washing the beanie:
You can keep the structure better by drying it on a salad bowl that is slightly smaller than the beanie. Just put the beanie on top of it and twist it in the circling direction of the structure.

Malmstrom wurde nach dem Buch „Die 13 ½ Leben des Käpt’n Blaubär“ benannt, dessen Geschichte auf dem fiktiven Kontinent Zamonien spielen. In dieser Welt ist der Malmstrom der „monströseste, gefährlichste und lauteteste Wasserwirbel der sieben Weltmeere.“ Der Protagonist Käpt’n Blaubär ertrinkt zu Beginn des Buches fast in ihm.

Die gezeigten Beispiele sind gestrickt in “Wollmeise Merino DK” in den Farben “Tutu Dark” (pink) und “Maus (alt)” (dunkelgrau), sowie “Madelinetosh DK Twist” in der Farbe “Cosmic Silver” (hellgrau mit Sprenklern).

Ein kleiner Tipp zum Waschen der Mütze:
Die Struktur lässt sich besser erhalten, wenn man die Mütze auf einer Salatschüssel trocknet, die etwas kleiner als die Mütze ist. Einfach die Mütze über die Schüssel stülpen und in Richtung der Struktur verdrehen.
